Okay, maybe I'm a little biased, as I was fortunate enough to be the artist that Mr. Larson chose to do his chapter illustrations. However, I have been an avid science fiction and fantasy reader since I was a child, so I have quite a bit of experience in that area. Mr. Larson has done a great job of creating an interesting world filled with characters of depth and humanity. The plot twists and turns, the action is fast-paced, and the ideas are unique. This is not a Young Adult novel, but the story and writing is family friendly. My 12 year old daughter, an avid reader, read Secret of the Crystal and said she enjoyed it very much. Another Sci-fi reader created! Pick this one up, and stay tuned for the second installment! :)

What I got to read made me want this book. I hope I can get it for my Nook!!!!!!!!!! I am checking on it. This book is something I just got to have.
This is the greatest Science Fiction book I've ever read. Keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way, with lots of action and time travel! Looking forward to more from this author in the near future.
Originally, I puchased this book as a gift for my brother, an avid sci-fi reader. I do love to read (not necessarily sci-fi) so read it myself. I was completely captured from the very beginning until it was done. Finding myself wishing book 2 was available! It has action, intrigue, suspense and romance all in one. I look forward to many more reads to come from Brian Larson.
Secret of the Crystal is quite the enjoyable read! I didn't get lost in the science fiction, which is rare in this genre for me. Instead, the larger than life characters, intergalactic settings, and wondrous technologies superseded "hard scifi" and made this read enjoyable. I think both scifi junkies and casual readers alike would enjoy Larson's book.
